Libya: uranium bombs – Amnesty International

Yesterday, someone of Amnesty International was talking on TV about the violation of human rights in Syria. But Amnesty International says nothing about the destruction of Libya with an UN-mandate whereby Libyan civilians are bombed with uranium bombs. There were already 5.000 bombings now and also members of the future Libyan generations will die as a result of the depleted uranium in the bombs. The western ‘free’ en ‘democratic’ world does not talk about these war crimes.

Libyan rebels will recognise Israel

June 3, 2011 - Libya’s rebel National Transitional Council (NTC) is ready to recognise Israel, according to French philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy, who says he has passed the message on to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The NTC "will be concerned with justice for the Palestinians and security for Israel" it it takes power, Lévy said after meeting Netanyahu Thursday.

"The future regime will maintain normal relations with other democratic countries, including Israel."

Netanyahu's office confirmed the meeting with Lévy but did not comment on the discussion. "The prime minister likes to meet intellectuals," a spokesperson said.

Lévy, who helped persuade France to be the first country to recognise the NTC, visited the rebel-held Libyan city of Misrata last weekend and went on to Jerusalem this week.

Moamer Kadhafi’s regime refused to recognise Israel, even after Egypt’s President Anwar Sadat peace treaty with the country in 1979.

Abayomi Azikiwe, PANW Editor: ‘NATO at War With Libyan Population’

NATO has admitted that it has killed at least 15 civilians in one of its attacks on a residential area near the Libyan capital of Tripoli.

The Western military alliance said one of its airstrikes on Tripoli early on Sunday did not hit its intended target.

NATO said a weapons system failure may have caused the incident.

In an interview with Press TV, Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of Pan-African News Wire, discusses the current situation in Libya.

Press TV: NATO’s air raids continue killing innocent civilians. How long will the UN let these innocent civilians be used as casualties for a greater cause?

Azikiwe: Well, it is unfortunate that this is going on. As you just reported, the Libyan government is saying that nine civilians have been killed in these latest air strikes. This is really unfortunate, it is outrageous, and the people of the United States, and I believe the people of the NATO countries, do not support this type of unwarranted and illegal killing of civilians or any one in another country which has not attacked the United States; it has not attacked any other NATO countries.

These are not the first civilian casualties that have been reported in regard to the US and NATO bombings of Libya, many other civilians have been killed. There were attempts made on the life of the leader of the country. His youngest son was killed; three of his grand children were killed. They have bombed schools, communications facilities, ports and ships that are involved in commercial activities in the country.

So, this is really an illegal war, a total violation of not only international law, but also the constitutional law of the United States. That is why the House of Representatives has passed a resolution, to block funding for the continued war in Libya, and this is not popular at all in the United States. 60 percent of the people in the United States openly oppose what is going on in Libya.

Press TV: US President Barack Obama says not to use the word “hostilities” with America’s involvement in Libya. Defense Secretary Robert Gates calls America’s actions a limited kinetic operation. Is that not contradictory to US’s involvement in the war-torn country, and especially, the resolution of 1973?

Azikiwe: Well, it has been reported that over a million people have been displaced from Libya. There are civilians that are dying, not only from NATO bombs, but from lack of food, medicine, and clean drinking water. There are migrant workers and refugees who are stranded at sea, whose boats have capsized, who have been left at sea by NATO and the other humanitarian groups who have claimed they are operating in Libya including the United Nations, [are left] to die of thirst, to die of starvation.

This is clearly a war against the population of a country. There is no way that it can be explained as a limited operation. Civilians are dying, government personnel are dying. People have been displaced in the hundreds of thousands. The conditions of refugees in Tunisia are just deplorable and all of this could have been prevented if the US and the NATO forces had worked with the African Union to try to devise some type of peaceful resolution to the conflict inside of Libya.

Any time you set out to overthrow a government of a country, the people are going to resist you, and this is what is going on in Libya. They have been bombing the country now for three months, for three whole months, and the government there has not broken and they say they are not going to surrender, so how many more bombs are they willing to drop? How many poor civilians are they willing to kill? How many more Libyans are they willing to attack in order to achieve what they claim as a victory against this country of six million people?

Press TV: That was a great point you just made, and that brings it to my final question. With that being said, what kind of time span do you give for Muammar Gaddafi and his regime, how much time do they have left?

Azikiwe: I have no idea how much time the Libyan people have left. I am not viewing this as a war against Gaddafi as the leader, because they have destroyed the property of the ports, the government installations, the civilian lives of the people of Libya. Whether they support the government or they are in opposition to the government, they are still being killed. There are people who support Transitional National Council (TNC) and their fighters have been killed as well by the NATO forces.

So, it doesn’t matter who they say they are supporting, people on both sides are being killed. The TNC [Transitional National Council] supporters are being killed by NATO, and so are the supporters of the Libyan government. So, I think it would be wise for the people of Libya to try to resolve their own internal problems themselves, and not rely on NATO to try to solve their problems, because it has resulted in a calamity for both the supporters of the government as well as the opposition of the government. And what the African Union has advocated, they have advocated a peaceful resolution to this conflict, [i.e.] negotiations, and the immediate assistance of civilians and those who are in need of humanitarian aid.

Peace Proposal:

Stop the bombing. Cease fire. Negotiations. Free elections taking into account Gaddafi's actual Elections Offer. The return of the Libyan money, blocked by the U.S. and European banks, to the Libyan State. The transfer of the money of the Libyan State that was intended for African projects, to the leaders of the African Union.
Russia has agreed to mediate in this conflict.

The so called 'Libyan rebels' wich are paid by the NATO, are rejecting every peace proposal...

Crimes against humanity legalized by the UN

Aisha Gaddafi Files Lawsuits Over Alleged Assassinations In NATO Raids:

PARIS (AP) – 6.7.2011 – Lawyers for Moammar Gaddafi’s daughter have filed lawsuits in Paris and Brussels over the alleged assassination in late April of four of the Libyan leader’s relatives in NATO bombing raids over Tripoli. Attorneys for Aisha al-Gaddafi say the complaints do not name a specific defendant, though an official at the state prosecutor’s office in Brussels told The Associated Press that the text appears to target the Atlantic military alliance – which is based in the Belgian capital. State prosecutors said Tuesday that officials are assessing whether the case can be admitted. NATO aircraft have been leading bombing raids over Libya under a U.N. Security Council resolution aimed at protecting civilians from Gadhafi’s forces.

Deadly Drone Attacks In Pakistan Reach Record High:
September 26, 2010 – On September 25 three missiles fired from a U.S. Predator drone killed four people near the capital of North Waziristan in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas, marking at least the 16th such attack in the country so far this month.
This September has seen the largest amount of American unmanned aerial vehicle – drone – attacks in Pakistan and the most deaths resulting from them of any month in the nine-year war waged by the United States and its North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies in Afghanistan and, though insufficiently acknowledged, increasingly in Pakistan. By way of comparison, in the deadliest month preceding this one, January of 2010, there were 11 missile strikes directed by the Central Intelligence Agency’s Special Activities unit inside Pakistan. Last September there were six. In 2009 there were 53 drone attacks. This year so far there have been nearly 75. The estimated death toll from strikes for last year was 709. In less than nine months this year there have been close to 650. If the annual, and surely if September’s monthly, rate continues, 2010 will be the deadliest year to date just as this month is already the deadliest month.

Bombing of Libya: Russian, Chinese and Indian diplomacy

Libya is still bombed by NATO and the Libyan civilians are the first victims of these bombings. They are not only wounded and killed  but they are also victim of the total destruction of the country as was the case with the NATO bombings of Yugoslavia which destroyed hospitals, schools, bridges, warehouses and so on.

If the U.N. and the U.N.-members will really protect the Libyan civilians, NATO has to stop its bombings and there must come an immediately ceasefire. Thereafter all the Libyan parties have to start negotiations (without foreign interference) for the rebuilding of the country. That’s the only solution.

We will contact the Russian, Chinese and Indian embassies about it.

THE NATO-BOMBINGS OF YUGOSLAVIA (24.3.1999- 19.4.1999)
The North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) made over 7,000 criminal attacks against the territory of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. 700 warplanes, of which 530 combat planes, were used; more than 2000 cruise missiles were launched and over 6,000 tons of explosives were dropped.
About 500 civilians were killed and more than 4,000 sustained serious injuries e.g.:
in Kursumlija: 13 dead and 25 wounded;
in Pancevo: 2 dead and 4 wounded;
in Cacak: one dead and 7 wounded;
in Kragujevac: over 120 workers were wounded during an attack on the car factory "Zastava";
in Vranje: two dead and 23 wounded;
in Aleksinac: 12 dead and more than 40 wounded;
in Nagavac village, Orahovac municipality: 11 dead and 5 wounded;
in Pristina: 10 dead and 8 wounded;
Grdelicka gorge: 55 killed and 16 wounded;
attack on two refugee columns, with four cruise missiles, on the Djakovica-Prizren
road: 75 killed and 100 wounded, of whom 26 critically;
in the village of Srbica: 10 killed, among whom 7 children;
Belgrade suburb of Batajnica: a three year old girl was killed, and five civilians wounded.

Three million children are endangered in our country as a result of war and bombardment by NATO.
After these barbarian attacks hundreds of thousands citizens have been exposed to poisonous gasses which can have a lasting consequences on the health of the entire population and the environment.
After the demolition of the Petrovaradin bridge, Novi Sad and Petrovaradin were cut of water supply (600 000 citizens) since the main and city pipeline was constructed into the bridge. About one million citizens in our country are short of water supply due to the bombardment of NATO.
About 500 000 workers became jobless due to the total destruction of industrial facilities all around the country. Two million citizens have no means for living and cannot ensure the minimum for existence.
Overall material damage is enormous. Preliminary estimates indicate that barbaric air strikes of the NATO alliance, since the beginning of the unprovoked aggression on the SR of Yugoslavia, on industrial, commercial and civil facilities and structures, have incurred damages in excess of 10 billion dollars. In the territory of the northern province of Vojvodine alone, damages have been estimated in excess of 3,5 billion dollars.

NATO 'protect' civilians with terror weapons

Many innocent civilians in Afghanistan, Pakistan an Libya are killed or wounded by so called drones. The drone is an unmanned aircraft designed by Israel.   The Israelis are denied entry into Afghanistan, but nevertheless, Israel provide ‘security’ for the coalition in Afghanistan. Israeli drones are used by Canada, France, Australia and Germany in Afghanistan. Today, Israeli specialists are on the air base at Ein Shemer for training the flight of “Herons” repainted in the colors of Germany.  Many of Israeli military products are standard NATO-compatible.

Israel Aerospace Industries made an unmanned aerial vehicle that can reach Iran.
The 4.5-ton Heron TP, dubbed the Eitan, which is Hebrew for "strong," is 79 feet long. It has a wingspan of 86 feet - about the size of a Boeing 737 airliner - and stay aloft for more than 24 hours at high altitude.

The US military is working to develop drones capable of taking off from US Navy aircraft carriers based in the Pacific. Analysts say the primary goal will be to confront China.

The drone is the result of the development work on the "pilotless airplane" ( V1 and V2) that Hitler authorised in June 1942. Of more than 10,000 V-1 launched, 7488 reached England, 3957 were destroyed and 3531 reached London. More than six thousand civilians were killed and eighteen thousand were wounded. The 1150 V-2 that landed in London killed 2,742 civilians and wounded 6467. The total property damage was 23,000 houses totally destroyed and 100,000 damaged while the RAF lost 490 aircraft.

Israeli drones are used by Canada, France, Australia and Germany in Afghanistan. Today, Israeli specialists are on the air base at Ein Shemer for training the flight of “Herons” repainted in the colors of Germany.

The idea of the drone is partly based on the V-1 and V-2 rocket that Germany used to bomb London. In total, the V-1 attacks caused 22,892 casualties (almost entirely civilians).   Of more than 10,000 V-1 launched, 7488 reached England, 3957 were destroyed and only 3531 reached London.

The V-2 rocket (in Germany called the A-4) was small by comparison to today’s rockets. It achieved its great thrust by burning a mixture of liquid oxygen and alcohol and was able to lob a one-ton warhead 50 miles high and hundreds of miles down range. The rocket fuselage was made of thin, collapsible metal that was inflated with the introduction of fuel into the tanks. Once launched, the V-2 was a weapon that could devastate entire city blocks. Fortunately for London and the Allied forces, the V-2 came too late in the War to change its outcome. Nevertheless, by the War’s end, German rocket scientists and engineers had already laid plans for advanced missiles capable of spanning the Atlantic Ocean and landing in the United States. With the fall of Germany, many unused V-2 rockets and components were captured by the Allies. Many German rocket scientists came to the United States, while others went to the Soviet Union. Both the United States and the Soviet Union realized the potential of the rocket as a military weapon and began a variety of experimental programs. The United States began developing its space program with high-altitude atmospheric sounding rockets. On October 4, 1957, the world was stunned by the news of the world’s first Earth-orbiting artificial satellite launched by the Soviet Union.

NATO lies: 'precision strikes', 'protect civilians'

1.5.2011 – NATO denied targeting Gaddafi, or his family, but said it had launched air strikes on military targets in the same area of Tripoli as the bombed site seen by reporters.

“NATO continued its precision strikes against regime military installations in Tripoli overnight, including striking a known command and control building in the Bab al-Aziziyah neighborhood shortly after 1800 GMT Saturday evening,” the alliance said in a statement.

NATO’s commander of Libya operations, Canadian Lieutenant-General Charles Bouchard, said the target was part of a strategy to hit command centers that threaten civilians.

“All NATO’s targets are military in nature…We do not target individuals,” he said in a statement.

Any appearance of an assassination attempt against Gaddafi is likely to lead to accusations that the British- and French-led strikes are overstepping the provisions of the U.N. resolution to protect civilians.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, a long-time ally of Gaddafi, called it attempted murder.

“There is no doubt the order was given to kill Gaddafi. It doesn’t matter who else is killed, kill Gaddafi … a murder, this is a murder,” he said in Caracas.

Konstantin Kosachev, head of the international affairs committee in the lower house of Russia’s parliament, told Interfax: “More and more facts indicate that the purpose of the anti-Libyan coalition is to physically destroy Gaddafi.”

He called on the Western coalition to undertake a prompt evaluation of its actions.

“I am aware of unconfirmed media reports that some of Gaddafi’s family members may have been killed,” NATO’s Bouchard said. “We regret all loss of life.”

British Prime Minister David Cameron said declined to comment on what he called the “unconfirmed report” about members of Gaddafi’s family being killed in the NATO strike.

But he told BBC television: “The targeting policy of NATO and the alliance is absolutely clear. It is in line with the U.N. resolution 1973 and it is about preventing a loss of civilian life by targeting Gaddafi’s war-making machine, so that is obviously tanks and guns, rocket launchers, but also command and control as well.”

Libyan peace talks blocked by the U.S.

Len McCluskey: Libyan intervention should be halted and peace talks should be launched

6/4/2011 - The attack on Libya by British, French and US forces is wrong and should be halted without any further delay or futile loss of life, Len McCluskey, general secretary of Unite the Union, considers.

In his article published by The Guardian McCluskey writes: “I believe the present military intervention is a mistake which shows the lessons of Iraq have still not been learned.” Prolonging the conflict will surely lead to more civilian deaths at the hands of troops on both sides, in addition to those directly caused by the bombing, according to the author. The present action raises the alternative possibility of escalation, leading to military occupation of all or part of Libya. Similar occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan have shown how disastrous and counter-productive such interventions are, McCluskey reminds. “Escalation and "boots on the ground" will cost British soldiers' lives and will once more stoke up hostility to Britain across the Middle East and the Muslim world,” the author warns.

Rather than pumping up a civil war, coalition-members should be joining others in pushing for a ceasefire followed by international assistance in negotiating a better future for Libyans. “This could only lead to an extension of democracy in Libya at the very least, something that will be made harder by prolonged conflict” the author concludes.

The United States are blocking all the UN resolutions critical of Israel

Libya, U.S., blocking, Libyan Peace talks, loss of life, NATO,

Israel's ethnic cleansing plan

Since 2001, Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs and leader of Israel’s far right party, Avigdor Lieberman, proposes to establish four townships in the occupied West Bank, hermetically sealed, which would be grouped the Palestinians. He sees it as a solution for the Palestinian citizens of Israel, who are more than one million, to move the vast majority of the group in tightly closed, self-administered areas.
Thus would arise a State ethnically homogeneous from the Mediterranean Sea until the Jordan, sheltering in its midst Palestinian “Bantustans”.

Washington's support to ethnic cleansing and Apartheid of Israel

November 15, 2010 – ’U.S. President Barack Obama has praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for urging his cabinet to accept a U.S. proposal to extend a freeze on West Bank settlement building for 90 days. Under the plan, Washington would block UN resolutions critical of Israel, and supply Israel with fighter jets worth $3 billion. The US government also promised Israel that after the 90-day moratorium, they would not seek an extension, and settlement construction in the West Bank and East Jerusalem (all of which is illegal under international law) could continue unabated.’
