UN responsible for the creation of an ‘ethnically homogeneous’ Israel

On the request of Tel Aviv and Washington, the UN blocks all the resolutions critical of Israel. Thus the UN is also reponsible for the realization of Israel’s plan to create a State ethnically homogeneous from the Mediterranean Sea until the Jordan…
———
On November 15, 2010, U.S. President Barack Obama praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for urging his cabinet to accept a U.S. proposal to extend a freeze on West Bank settlement building for 90 days.
Under the plan, Washington would block UN resolutions critical of Israel, and supply Israel with fighter jets worth $3 billion. The US government also promisedIsrael that after the 90-day moratorium, they would not seek an extension, and settlement construction in the West Bank and East Jerusalem (all of which is illegal under international law) could continue unabated.
In February 2011, more than 100 nations voted for a U.N. resolution that would have condemned illegal Israeli settlements and halted any new construction. The United States vetoed it.
On February 19, 2011, Israel said it was deeply grateful to the United States after it vetoed a United Nations resolution put forward by the Palestinian leadership condemning Israeli settlement activity.

Since 2001, Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs and leader of Israel’s far right party, Avigdor Lieberman, proposes to establish four townships in the occupied West Bank, hermetically sealed, which would be grouped the Palestinians. He sees it as a solution for the Palestinian citizens of Israel, who are more than one million, to move the vast majority of the group in tightly closed, self-administered areas.
Thus would arise a State ethnically homogeneous from the Mediterranean Sea until the Jordan, sheltering in its midst Palestinian “Bantustans”.

Prisons of shame: Pauline McCabe, Prisoner Ombudsman for Northern Ireland

Brussels, 8.7.2011

Pauline McCabe, Prisoner Ombudsman for Northern Ireland 22nd Floor, Windsor House, Bedford Street, BT2 7FT Ireland

Dear Madam,

Concerns: the deaths in Maghaberry prison, Brendan Lillis who is actually dying in the Maghaberry prison

May I remind you to my letter of 30.6.2011, please ?

In this letter I said that it is not normal that, while you are pretending to investigate the complaints from prisoners and the deaths in prison custody (from 1 September 2005 the remit of the Prisoner Ombudsman was even extended as required by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland), you say that you ‘can not comment and can not be helpful’ in the case of Brendan Lillis.

You say that 'these matters are for Minister for Justice Ford and the prison authorities' but that is not correct. The least you can do as Prisoners Ombudsman which investigates with a special team the many deaths and suicides in the prisons of Northern Ireland, is to make a report of a caseas Brendan Lillis and to take contact with the Minister and the direction of the prison authorities.

As you know very well, Brendan is very sick and he risks to die in the Maghaberry prison of Northern Ireland where there were 3 deaths during the past 3 months.

I learned that Brendan has no right to the visit of a physician from outside the prison. That's in violation of the prison law and international laws. Brendan is now more than 450 days in bed and he is more dead than alive. His situation is getting worse every day. He can hardly move or talk. He would now be fed through a gut that is going directly to his stomach. That is a sadistic torture because they know that he is dying and it is again a violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and of the national and international laws.

Given his health, he has the right to be released.

As I said, there have been many deaths in the Maghaberry prison without you were doing anything to prevent it, without you took your job seriously. You seem to work without human feeling, without thinking of the life of the prisoners and their husbands, their families and friends.

Remember that you are a prisoner ombudsman. So, it is your work to DO something for prisoners.

You think that, by refering to the Minister of Justice and the direction of the prison authorities, you can avoid your responsibility. But it will not help you. If you do not help a very sick prisoner by making a report and contacting the Minister and the prison authorities, you can be prosecuted as he dies.

Yours sincerely,

Jan Boeykens President of Werkgroep Morkhoven Belgium

Libya: uranium bombs – Amnesty International

Yesterday, someone of Amnesty International was talking on TV about the violation of human rights in Syria. But Amnesty International says nothing about the destruction of Libya with an UN-mandate whereby Libyan civilians are bombed with uranium bombs. There were already 5.000 bombings now and also members of the future Libyan generations will die as a result of the depleted uranium in the bombs. The western ‘free’ en ‘democratic’ world does not talk about these war crimes.

Some weeks ago the Libyan NATO-rebels said that they will recognise Israel and that “the future regime will maintain normal relations with other democratic countries, including Israel.”
Libya is among the World’s largest oil economies with approximately 3.5% of global oil reserves, more than twice those of the US.
“Operation Libya” is part of the broader military agenda in the Middle East and Central Asia which consists in gaining control and corporate ownership over more than sixty percent of the world’s reserves of oil and natural gas, including oil and gas pipeline routes.

RTE News Ireland: ‘Prisoner Ombudsman can be helpful…’

Pauline McCabe, Prisoner Ombudsman for Northern Ireland, who investigates deaths in Prison Service ‘cannot be helpful’ in the case of Brendan Lillis who is dying in the Maghaberry prison of Northern Ireland…

RTE News Ireland:

29 March 2011 – The PSNI has begun a criminal investigation after the Northern Ireland Prisoner Ombudsman said a prison officer planted a note in the cell of a dissident republican suspect. http://www.rte.ie/news/2011/0329/psni.html

Probe into Maghaberry prison cell note

The PSNI has begun a criminal investigation after the Northern Ireland Prisoner Ombudsman said a prison officer planted a note in the cell of a dissident republican suspect.
The Prison Service of Northern Ireland says a member of staff has been suspended following the report by the ombudsman.
In a statement, the Prison Service said the prison officer was suspended in accordance with its code of discipline.
‘We have launched a disciplinary investigation into this matter which has been adjourned pending the outcome of the police inquiry.’
The note is believed to have contained personal details about the then Governor of Maghaberry Prison, Steve Rodford.
Mr Rodford resigned in December 2009 because of fears he faced a security threat.
Prisoner Ombudsman Pauline McCabe found that on the balance of probabilities, a member of prison staff planted the note in the cell of Brendan McConville, who is charged with the murder of PSNI Constable Stephen Carroll in Craigavon two years ago.
Mr McConville’s lawyer wrote to the Ombudsman alleging that his client had been set up by prison staff opposed to planned reforms within the prison.

He has lost half of his body weight and is too weak to move, yet Maghaberry prison refuses to provide IV nourishment to him. Starvation is a slow and suffering way to kill a person. Please email PA/Prisoner.Ombudsman@prisonerombudsman.x.gsi.gov.uk and let them know their action of not providing IV nutrition to Mr. Lillis is tantamount to murder.

Dear Madam,

Thanks for your reply.

It is very strange that, while you are pretending to investigate the complaints from prisoners and the deaths in prison custody (from 1 September 2005 the remit of the Prisoner Ombudsman was even extended as required by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland), you ‘can not comment and can not be helpful’ in the case of Brendan Lillis who is very sick and is dying now in the Maghaberry prison of Northern Ireland where there were 3 deaths during the past 3 months.

You say that these matters are for Minister for Justice Ford and the prison authorities.

Many people wrote to Minister Ford and the prison authorities but they didn’t receive an answer.

Have they to wait until they can go to the funeral of Brendan ?

Don’t forget that you are an prisoner ombudsman. So, it is your work to DO something for prisoners.

NATO-rebels will maintain 'normal relations with other democratic countries'

NATO-rebels: "The future regime will maintain normal relations with other democratic countries, including Israel."

Libyan rebels will recognise Israel

June 3, 2011 - Libya’s rebel National Transitional Council (NTC) is ready to recognise Israel, according to French philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy, who says he has passed the message on to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The NTC "will be concerned with justice for the Palestinians and security for Israel" it it takes power, Lévy said after meeting Netanyahu Thursday.

"The future regime will maintain normal relations with other democratic countries, including Israel."

Netanyahu's office confirmed the meeting with Lévy but did not comment on the discussion. "The prime minister likes to meet intellectuals," a spokesperson said.

Lévy, who helped persuade France to be the first country to recognise the NTC, visited the rebel-held Libyan city of Misrata last weekend and went on to Jerusalem this week.

Moamer Kadhafi’s regime refused to recognise Israel, even after Egypt’s President Anwar Sadat peace treaty with the country in 1979.

(They call Israel the 'only democratic State in the Middle East')

Abayomi Azikiwe, PANW Editor: ‘NATO at War With Libyan Population’

NATO has admitted that it has killed at least 15 civilians in one of its attacks on a residential area near the Libyan capital of Tripoli.

The Western military alliance said one of its airstrikes on Tripoli early on Sunday did not hit its intended target.

NATO said a weapons system failure may have caused the incident.

In an interview with Press TV, Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of Pan-African News Wire, discusses the current situation in Libya.

Press TV: NATO’s air raids continue killing innocent civilians. How long will the UN let these innocent civilians be used as casualties for a greater cause?

Azikiwe: Well, it is unfortunate that this is going on. As you just reported, the Libyan government is saying that nine civilians have been killed in these latest air strikes. This is really unfortunate, it is outrageous, and the people of the United States, and I believe the people of the NATO countries, do not support this type of unwarranted and illegal killing of civilians or any one in another country which has not attacked the United States; it has not attacked any other NATO countries.

These are not the first civilian casualties that have been reported in regard to the US and NATO bombings of Libya, many other civilians have been killed. There were attempts made on the life of the leader of the country. His youngest son was killed; three of his grand children were killed. They have bombed schools, communications facilities, ports and ships that are involved in commercial activities in the country.

So, this is really an illegal war, a total violation of not only international law, but also the constitutional law of the United States. That is why the House of Representatives has passed a resolution, to block funding for the continued war in Libya, and this is not popular at all in the United States. 60 percent of the people in the United States openly oppose what is going on in Libya.

Press TV: US President Barack Obama says not to use the word “hostilities” with America’s involvement in Libya. Defense Secretary Robert Gates calls America’s actions a limited kinetic operation. Is that not contradictory to US’s involvement in the war-torn country, and especially, the resolution of 1973?

Azikiwe: Well, it has been reported that over a million people have been displaced from Libya. There are civilians that are dying, not only from NATO bombs, but from lack of food, medicine, and clean drinking water. There are migrant workers and refugees who are stranded at sea, whose boats have capsized, who have been left at sea by NATO and the other humanitarian groups who have claimed they are operating in Libya including the United Nations, [are left] to die of thirst, to die of starvation.

This is clearly a war against the population of a country. There is no way that it can be explained as a limited operation. Civilians are dying, government personnel are dying. People have been displaced in the hundreds of thousands. The conditions of refugees in Tunisia are just deplorable and all of this could have been prevented if the US and the NATO forces had worked with the African Union to try to devise some type of peaceful resolution to the conflict inside of Libya.

Any time you set out to overthrow a government of a country, the people are going to resist you, and this is what is going on in Libya. They have been bombing the country now for three months, for three whole months, and the government there has not broken and they say they are not going to surrender, so how many more bombs are they willing to drop? How many poor civilians are they willing to kill? How many more Libyans are they willing to attack in order to achieve what they claim as a victory against this country of six million people?

Press TV: That was a great point you just made, and that brings it to my final question. With that being said, what kind of time span do you give for Muammar Gaddafi and his regime, how much time do they have left?

Azikiwe: I have no idea how much time the Libyan people have left. I am not viewing this as a war against Gaddafi as the leader, because they have destroyed the property of the ports, the government installations, the civilian lives of the people of Libya. Whether they support the government or they are in opposition to the government, they are still being killed. There are people who support Transitional National Council (TNC) and their fighters have been killed as well by the NATO forces.

So, it doesn’t matter who they say they are supporting, people on both sides are being killed. The TNC [Transitional National Council] supporters are being killed by NATO, and so are the supporters of the Libyan government. So, I think it would be wise for the people of Libya to try to resolve their own internal problems themselves, and not rely on NATO to try to solve their problems, because it has resulted in a calamity for both the supporters of the government as well as the opposition of the government. And what the African Union has advocated, they have advocated a peaceful resolution to this conflict, [i.e.] negotiations, and the immediate assistance of civilians and those who are in need of humanitarian aid.

‎’Errant airstrike in Tripoli’ was calculated murder

The Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia was also ‘accidentally’ bombed (2 deads and more than 20 wounded)
There were 11,644 ‘accidental’ Air Missions and 4,409 ‘accidental’ Combat Sorties of NATO in Libya.
In some worlds there are no ‘accidents’. Every murder is calculated.

The transfer of the money of the Libyan State that was intended for African projects, to the leaders of the African Union.
Russia has agreed to mediate in this conflict.

The Libyan ship for Gaza

Libyan Gaza ship.jpg

Libya Ship 'Stalls' Off Gaza As Israeli Gunboats Hover

GAVIN RABINOWITZ, AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE

14 Jul 2010

JERUSALEM - A Libyan ship loaded with aid for Gaza apparently stalled off the coast of the besieged territory on July 14, its every movement closely watched by a fleet of Israeli warships hovering nearby.

As of the morning of July 14, it was still not clear if the freighter would re-chart a course for the Egyptian port of El-Arish, or would continue to head for the Gaza Strip in defiance of an Israeli naval blockade on the territory.

"The boat is in international waters, 60 miles from El-Arish and 80 miles from Gaza," a military spokeswoman said. "As far as I know, it is not moving."

Overnight, the vessel appeared to have stalled with engine trouble, according to Israel public radio and the Kadhafi Foundation charity involved in the shipment.

Public radio, whose monitor has been listening in to radio transmissions between the ship and the navy, broadcast what it said was the ship's captain reporting his main engine had failed.

The radio later reported that the Israeli boats were within visual range of the vessel, and were contacting the captain with questions every time there was suspicious movement on deck.

In Tripoli, Yussef Sawan, head of the Kadhafi Foundation, confirmed the cargo ship, the Amalthea, had engine trouble, but blamed its lack of progress on the Israeli navy.

"Because of a malfunction, the cargo ship was moving slowly, but now it has stopped. The Israeli navy is preventing us from moving," Sawan said.

"Eight Israeli warships are surrounding the Libyan aid ship for Gaza and preventing the continuation of its journey," he said.

The ship, which is carrying a cargo of 2,000 tons of foodstuffs and medicine, has been charted by the the Kadhafi Foundation. The charity is run by Seif al-Islam, son of Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi.

Sawan said earlier that the warships were "threatening" the cargo ship which he said was still headed for Gaza, denying an Egyptian claim that it was due to arrive in El-Arish, an Egyptian port about 50 kilometers from Gaza.

"The ship is still headed for Gaza and will not change course," Sawan said.

On July 13, the ship's Cuban captain had told the navy he would change course and head for El-Arish, an Israeli official said.

However, warships continued to closely monitor the ship, fearing the move was a ruse, he said.

Speaking to the Maariv daily, a senior military official said naval forces were not expecting any problems from those on board but they were prepared to respond if it became necessary.

"We do not expect any resistance," he said. "But if our soldiers do encounter problems, they will not hesitate to use force."

The last time Israel tried to stop Gaza aid ships the resulting skirmishes left nine Turks, including a dual U.S. national, dead while dozens of other people were injured, including nine Israeli commandos.

Washington on Tuesday urged both parties to act with caution.

"We have urged the Libyan government to avoid any unnecessary confrontation," said State Department spokesman Philip Crowley, calling on all parties "to act responsibly" in meeting Gaza's needs.

Mashallah Zwei, a representative of the charity on the boat, said July 13 that the navy had "threatened to send their warships to intercept the boat and escort it toward the (southern Israeli) port of Ashdod if we do not change course."

The 92-meter (302-foot) freighter had left Greece on July 10 carrying a crew of 12 of various nationalities, along with nine passengers: six Libyans, a Nigerian, a Moroccan and an Algerian national, the shipping agent said.

Earlier this week, Israel's military published the results of an internal inquiry into the May 31 raid, which found that while mistakes had been made, the troops' use of live fire was "justified."

Global pressure over the May 31 debacle forced Israel to significantly change its policy on Gaza, and now it prevents only the import of arms and goods it says could be used to build weapons or fortifications.

NATO: terror-bombings

As a reminder:

- March 23, 2011 – Yesterday a war of words erupted between the U.S. and Britain after the U.K. government claimed Muammar Gaddafi is a legitimate target for assassination.  U.K. government officials said killing the Libyan leader would be legal if it prevented civilian deaths as laid out in a U.N. resolution.
But U.S. defence secretary Robert Gates hit back at the suggestion, saying it would be ‘unwise’ to target the Libyan leader adding cryptically that the bombing campaign should stick to the ‘U.N. mandate’.
- March 25, 2011 – U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates met Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea, Israel. Gates discussed with Netanyahu ‘regional security concerns’.

Photo: NATO bombed also the Nasser University and other civilian targets in Tripoli. By terror-bombing and by destroying the country, NATO hopes to break the resistance of the Libyans.

Bombing of Afghanistan and Libya: The role of Germany

On November 16, 2001, German Social Democratic Party (SPD) and Green Party deputies voted overwhelmingly in favour of sending German troops to participate in the Afghanistan war. Their 336 votes secured a majority for the ruling “red-green” coalition.
Three days later, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the most active advocate of the war among European social democrats, received frenetic applause following his address to the SPD party conference. At its party conference, the SPD leadership did everything in its power to ensure the withdrawal of a motion which called for the intervention by German troops to be limited to Afghanistan. Despite the fact that 120 of the 520 assembled delegates signed this motion, the leadership was able to consign it to the files. The motion also condemned particular forms of military actions (e.g., carpet bombing), rejected special military courts for trying terrorists, criticised Israeli occupation policy and called for an independent state for the Palestinians.

The November 16 decision of the Bundestag (parliament) is one of the most far-reaching and momentous in its history. Chancellor Schröder himself made this clear when he described it as a “turning point”. “For the first time,” he said, “the international situation is forcing us to deploy German troops for a military intervention outside the NATO area.” “The post-war period is over!” Chancellor Schröder told the Bundestag, to the applause of the deputies. Schröder’s rhetoric was only exceeded by that of his Green Party foreign minister, Joschka Fischer, who in Orwellian manner reinterprets every war as a ‘humanitarian mission’. In his speech to the Bundestag, Fischer mutates the war against Afghanistan into a matter of “world domestic policy,” and the bombardment of an impoverished country becomes the means to provide “humanitarian aid”. According to Fischer, “We now have a great opportunity. Everywhere, where the Northern Alliance is, the United Nations and its relief organisations and the NGOs can go in again”.

The extent of the tasks to be undertaken by German troops has been expanded from unarmed medical orderlies and logistic support to armed “peace missions” and overt military action. Their sphere of activity has been widened from the area covered by NATO to the shores beyond Europe and the entire globe. The area of intervention stipulated in the Bundestag resolution reaches from the Hindu Kush across the Middle East and into north-east Africa.
In the past, political obstacles have always prevented the German army undertaking military interventions but the latest decision by the German parliament gives the government a free hand to participate in military activities in other countries.
